What is a trendy platform? Most people would say currently, Netflix. As Netflix has sky rocketed many other platforms has decreased such as channels on TV or CD's, internet streaming has
dominated and become the place where entertainment becomes trendy. A good example of what is trending right now is shows like 'Riverdale' or '13 Reasons Why' or 'Stranger Things'. All of these shows have one thing in common, they are all Teen/Young characters in a mystery which slowly unfolds itself. They tend to be aimed at the younger audiences which mostly resides on Netflix and online in general.
Apart from the fact the genres are similar, the storyline are gripping and draw in the audience with cliffhangers. Most of these series have strong characters and developments which seem to satisfyingly resolve (to an extent). 13 Reasons Why draws audiences in by telling a story about depression of which leads to a characters suicide. This starts a conversation within social groups about the fact that suicide and depression is more common than you think and shows how it effects then and other around them. This relates to other and becomes more trendy as many people have had depression or knew someone who has it. It also has a lot of contraversial scenes within the show which causes it to be talked about more and more popular among friends, which isn't always a good or bad thing, but it educates others and is true to life. '13 Reasons Why' Season 2 has an average of 6.08 million viewers in the U.S in the first three days of its release.

A good story usually starts a conversation or is to an extent true to life. Teen Dramas/Mysteries like "Riverdale" or "13 Reasons Why" relate to a young audience, provide excitement and curiosity. Starting a conversation will make it more relevant in social groups or social media and make it more popular. Adding a good strong characters with a logical, interesting backstory and their character development is essential to improve the story
